In many Tanzanian schools, digital learning is still a distant reality. Public institutions often lack the funding for laptops, computer labs, or reliable internet. As a result, students grow up in a world where digital skills are essential, yet remain out of reach. This gap doesn’t just affect their education, it limits future opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, and further studies. The ICT Project was created to address this divide and ensure that young people can participate fully in the digital age.
Our Response
The first phase of the ICT Project was carried out at a college in Karatu, Tanzania. Using donated laptops, students received training in practical digital skills. This included:
Microsoft Office basics
Simple Graphic Design
Introduction to Website Creation
We also provided internet access to the school, enabling ongoing digital learning and ensuring that workshops could be integrated into longer-term education.
Expected Impact
For many students, this was their first hands-on experience with a computer. Gaining these skills opens doors; from applying for scholarships and jobs to developing small businesses or sharing knowledge online. Beyond the technical know-how, the project also builds confidence and curiosity, empowering Tanzania's youth to see themselves as capable of shaping their future in a digital world.
